SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS TO REVIEW PROPOSED MILLAGE RESOLUTION FOR STUDENT SAFETY AND SECURITY
WHO: School Board Members, Executive Leadership Team, the Public, GEMs
WHAT: Monroe County School officials will meet to workshop the proposed millage resolution for funding school resource officers at all schools. Board members will also discuss the 2018 Legislative Allocations for 2018-2019 fiscal year budget and financing for construction for Stanley Switlik School.
Superintendent Mark Porter said the incorporation of SROs and potential school hardening is only part of the conversation in ensuring MCSD students are safe and secure. “We are looking for funding for what some may consider more tangible resources and fixes like school hardening. This includes the addition of more security cameras, reinforcing infrastructure, and SROs. However, we are prioritizing services that are accessible right now – mental health services. We have a tremendous team of mental health experts offering feedback and consulting with school and community officials with ways we can implement even better services as early as next school year.”
MCSD’s Unified Champion Special Olympic Athletes and the district’s Regional STEM Fair winners will be recognized for their accomplishments.
The following items are up for approval: adoption of Policies 2120 – School Improvement, 5410 – Student Progression, 5460 – Graduation Requirements; amendment No. 1 to Ajax Building Corporation for the Temporary Campus GMP Proposal for the Stanley Switlik Elementary School Project; acceptance of MCSD School Internal Funds Audit Report; and acceptance of MCSD Operational Audit for 2016-2017 school year.
