Gayla Morgan performs with Western Wind on Feb. 11

Key Wester singer Gayla Morgan will take the stage with a cappella song stylists Western Wind at an Impromptu Concert performance at 4 p.m. onSunday, Feb. 11, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 401 Duval St. The concert is the third of the 2018 Impromptu Concert season, which is celebrating the centennial of the late composer Leonard Bernstein, a frequent visitor to Key West.
Morgan, a soprano, began her career in composing and arranging by drawing on her experience as a professional violinist, to create string charts for several pop/folk groups’ original tunes. This quickly lead to her creation of vocal back-up arrangements for those groups as well.
Since 2001 her focus has been on writing for the theater. Her musical “A Dog Story” ran off Broadway from November to January 2017, has a cast album available on iTunes and Amazon, and is licensed, with productions upcoming in New Jersey and Hungary. Another musical “Conch Republic,” with book by Monnie O. King, is performed annually in Key West.
Morgan’s choral vocal arrangements are performed across the U.S. by community choirs, churches, and children’s groups.
Tickets for the concert cost $20, and are available at www.keystix.com, or at the door on the afternoon of the event. Cash, checks, or credit/debit cards accepted. Students admitted free. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
