Traffic stop leads to drug arrest
A traffic stop Sunday afternoon in Key Largo resulted in the arrest of man for possessing drugs.
Deputy Ben Elmore was on patrol at 1:45 p.m. near Key Largo Community Park when he spotted a dark green scooter which looked like it had no license tag. He stopped the scooter and discovered it had a license tag, but it had been painted over so it was unreadable.
The scooter driver was identified as 21 year old Jesus Giovanni Ginjauma. Ginjauma had a driver’s license that had been suspended four times. In his shorts pocket, Deputy Elmore found six plastic bags containing a white powder that tested positive as cocaine. He also found another bag with an unknown tan crystalline substance inside. That substance tested positive for Methamphetamine. In the seat compartment Deputy Elmore found a controlled substance called Promethazine Hydrochloride and several items of drug paraphernalia. Ginjauma did not have a prescription for the substance. Hidden in the gas cap of the scooter was another plastic bag of cocaine bringing the total amount of cocaine found to 27.5 grams.
Ginjauma was charged with driving with license suspended, possession of cocaine, two counts of possession of a controlled substance and three counts possession of drug paraphernalia.
