Hialeah man arrested for stealing aluminum door

A Hialeah man is in jail today charged with stealing an aluminum door from underneath a house on Bogie Drive, Big Pine Key.

The victim called the Sheriff’s Office at 3 p.m. Thursday after he found 38 year old Yoannys Jose Rosa Placeres in front of his home. Placeres was driving a truck pulling a trailer. In the trailer, the victim could see an aluminum door that had been underneath his house. He confronted Placeres. Placeres claimed the door had been on the street.

When the victim picked up his phone to call the Sheriff’s Office, Placeres threw the door into the yard and took off in his truck with the victim following.

Sgt. Linda Mixon heard the call from Sheriff’s dispatchers and responded toward Bogie Drive. She intercepted the suspect’s vehicle, stopping him at Avenue B and Palm Drive.

Placeres continued to deny stealing the door. A check on his name revealed a suspended driver’s license and the temporary tag on his vehicle was expired. The victim has surveillance cameras on his property which clearly showed the suspect coming onto the property and taking the door.

Placeres was arrested. He was charged with burglary and grand theft. His truck and trailer were towed.
