Historic Preservation Grant Funding Available

Parlin Meyer, with the Old Island Restoration Foundation, came to the December city commission meeting to let the community know that the organization has grant funding available to repair and restore historic structures with hurricane damage.

According to Meyer, OIRF has over $32,000 available in their annual grant program, and the organization is giving hurricane recovery projects priority as they determine which proposal or proposals will receive grant money.

Meyer pointed out that not-for-profits and individual residents of Key West are eligible for grants. She noted that, over the past few grant cycles, only non-profits have applied. OIRF is hoping that individuals who qualify will also apply for this grant funding aimed at preserving the architectural and cultural heritage of Key West.

Grant proposals are due by January 12, 2018. For more information, go to www.OIRF.org.
