A New Catalog, and Hurricane Irma Inspired Exhibitions During First Thursdays, December 7, 6-8pm

On December 7, from 6-8pm, The Studios keeps their doors open late for First Thursdays, a monthly open house celebrating new exhibitions, studio artists, and current projects at The Studios. Also that night, The Studios’ brand new catalog will be available to the public, detailing all the events, classes and exhibitions lined up for the season.

“#keysstrong – The Studios Annual Winter Members’ Art Show and Sale” will be installed over all all three floors of the landmark Art Deco building at 533 Eaton Street. The show includes work by over one hundred Keys’ artists who created artwork in response to Hurricane Irma. The call to artists invited Studios’ members to reflect on the things that bend but don’t break, the things that last, and the things that matter.

In the project gallery, photographer/writer Mark Hedden and radio producer/writer Nancy Klingener have installed “Storm Tossed,” a multimedia work about Hurricane Irma – starting with the experience of riding the storm out in The Studios itself, and moving on to the immediate aftermath and its effects on those who stayed in Key West and the Lower Keys.

Visitors can also stop by during regular gallery hours, Tuesday-Saturday, 10am-4pm, to view exhibitions and projects-in-progress.
