LKCC FESTIVAL SUCCESSFUL FOR COMMUNITY
The Lower Keys Chamber of Commerce hosted a lovely event on Saturday, November 25: the annual Island Art Festival. In spite of the significant mess caused by Hurricane Irma, many volunteers and supporters came together to make sure this annual event could provide some much-needed relief from the devastation everyone has experienced. And it did just that! County workers pitched in to clear the huge debris pile that accumulated on the corner of the grounds, and Steve Belew, with Camp Wesumkee, brought fill to spread. Board members helped clean up, set up the Chamber tent and ready the stage for the event. Rich Fielder put together a great line-up of local musicians, who donated their time and talents. Winn-Dixie provided cookies for the first-ever Cookie Eating Contest. Our Chamber is fortunate to have such wonderful support from so many businesses and individuals.
This year’s festival was well attended and very much appreciated, both by the vendors and the guests. The Chamber is pleased to be able to host events such as this, as we remain a vital “hub” of our community from Big Pine Key through south Stock Island.
