‘A Delicate Balance’ has strong audience impact

 SPECIAL TO KONK LIFE

The New York Times describes Edward Albee’s “A Delicate Balance” as “an evening of theatrical fireworks that prompt astonished oohs and ahs, genuine laughter and a certain amount of delicious unease.” Theater website Talkin’ Broadway raves, “a timeless classic…it just doesn’t get any better than this.”

Brought to the local stage by Fringe Theater of Key West, A Delicate Balance will play to local audiences at 8 p.m., tonight-March 1, and March 6-8. But be forewarned: According to Florida Theater Onstage, this play encourages the audience “to scrape away the polite lubricant of societal conventions and mores to examine the absolute truth of our relationships with those we say we love.” It reveals just how antisocial the upper social class can be.

Fringe Resident Director Dennis Zacek leads local standout actors Richard Grusin, Monnie King, PJ King, Kathy Russ, Tammy Shanley, and Caroline Taylor. The Custom House Museum plays host to this Pulitzer-winning drama; tickets are $35 and may be purchased at www.Keystix.com or 305-295-7676.

Westin Key West Resort and Marina is offering complimentary parking for performance nights only to Fringe ticket holders. Fringe patrons must request the chaser ticket from the box office. Upon departure from the Westin Parking garage, Fringe patrons must insert the original white parking ticket (required for entry in the garage) along with the chaser ticket.
