Monroe County Fire Rescue Responds To Accident On Channel 5 Bridge Involving Tractor Trailer And Truck Carrying Lobster Traps

MONROE COUNTY, FL – At about 9 a.m. this morning, Monroe County Fire Rescue units from the Conch Key and Layton stations responded to an accident at mile marker 71.5 of U.S. 1 on the Channel 5 Bridge. The accident involved an empty flatbed tractor trailer and a pickup truck towing a trailer full of lobster traps.

One person suffered minor injuries but declined transportation to a hospital.

The road was completely blocked to remove the traps and vehicles.

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating.
