Thank you for Underwater Music Festival
The Lower Keys Chamber wants to say a huge “THANK YOU” to everyone who helped make this year’s Underwater Music Festival a success: US 1 Radio who, along with local celebrity Bill Becker, broadcast underwater from 10am – 2pm with music and editorial on how & why we need to preserve our reef; Strike Zone Charters, who provided the press boat; Looe Key Tiki Bar who put on a great party on Friday evening and helped with divers; August Powers who created another gorgeous instrument and shared others with our divers on Saturday; our divers who came in costume to provide our videographers with excellent footage; Robert Keeley who goes out every year to tag the markers, so our boats can tie-off in the appropriate spot; Newman PR who handles the tremendous amount of press our area receives from this event; and Dolphin Marina & Cottages who did the pick-up of our media crew to get them back to shore in time for us to make the evening news. Of course, Lubell Labs out of Columbus, OH has provided underwater speakers for the past 33 years. The Chamber is happy to host this quirky event, as it does bring people from far and wide to frequent our local businesses. We are also aware that, without our precious reef, the Lower Keys would not be a popular destination that consistently supports our tourist industry. We work with NOAA to obtain their permit to hold this event and our divers are very careful not to do anything that would negatively impact our reef. All in all, it is a fun-filled experience enjoyed by the entire world via video coverage.
