Key West High School Drama Club Students Collaborate With Key West Theater To Present ‘High School Musical’
WHO: The students from Key West High School Drama Club cast in High School Musical, Key West Theater members producing and directing the show, the public.
WHAT: The Key West High School Drama Club is teaming up with Key West Theater to present Disney’s “High School Musical”. Juliet Gray, Artistic Director of the Theater, produced the play with Theater staff members Phillip Cole White and Alexandra Zeto. The three have worked with students in the drama club to give them actual experience with mounting a professional production. The musical is about Troy and Gabriella, two students at East High School. According to the play producers, the two must deal with issues of love, friends and family while balancing their classes and extra-curricular activities. Tickets are $15 to $20. The Key West Theater is a nonprofit organization, so the ticket sales will go towards the cost of production and creating more theatrical programming and opportunities for high school students. This play is a culmination of a year of work for the Drama Club crafting their skills. The lead cast of characters are played by the following students:

WHY: This unique occasion serves as a learning experience for the students. It provides the students with the opportunity to see what it is like to work in professional theater. It also showcases the importance of arts in education and community collaboration in Key West. “We believe helping the next generation become the artists they want to be is of the utmost importance,” said Juliet Gray, Producing Artistic Director of The Key West Theater.
