ESG Operations, Inc. Plays a Major Role in the Financing, Planning, Design and Construction of the City of Douglas, Georgia’s Miracle Field Complex
Macon, Georgia, March 27, 2017 (Newswire.com) – As a part of ESG’s ongoing commitment to make a difference in the communities we proudly serve, on March 13, 2017, ESG Operations, Inc. donated $50,000 to assist the City of Douglas, Georgia in building a Miracle Field Complex. The Douglas Miracle Field will remove barriers that prevent children and adults with physical and mental disabilities from enjoying a playground and playing baseball—America’s favorite pastime.
“Our region has very limited recreational facility options for children and adults with disabilities. ESG’s generous donation and technical support for this project really means a lot to our community,” stated Terrell Jacobs, City Manager of Douglas. ESG’s commitment includes a monetary donation along with engineering and construction management services. The Douglas Miracle Field will serve as a regional resource in South Georgia and will enable hundreds of children and families to enjoy a recreational facility that will be completely handicap friendly. ESG is also a member of the project’s Planning Committee along with The Miracle Field League, local elected officials, government staff, churches, citizens, non-profit and private organizations. The committee has worked together to help raise funds and in-kind professional services to make this project a reality. ESG continually strives to make an impact in the communities we serve beyond providing services and managing facilities as illustrated by our commitment to the City of Douglas, Georgia. “ESG is very grateful to be positioned to support the City’s initiative with our resources and this project will be a blessing to many others in the region,” commented Tony Johnson, ESG Vice President, Community and Government Affairs.
In 2008, ESG assisted the City of Opelika, Alabama in building and opening the Billy Hitchcock Miracle Field Complex. The Opelika Complex is named in honor of Opelika resident and professional baseball player Billy Hitchcock, and annually draws hundreds of children and families from the East Alabama and West Georgia areas. This $1 million project was initially a vision of the Opelika Lions Club. With seed money provided by the Opelika City Council and ESG Operations, Inc., the project became a reality in 2008 through generous donations, ESG’s professional resources, and in-kind services from many other area companies.
