MOSQUITO CONTROL TO HOST A TIRE AMNESTY DAY

WHAT:  The Florida Keys Mosquito Control District (FKMCD), in collaboration with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, is hosting a Tire Amnesty Day.

Old tires are an ideal breeding environment for mosquitoes, especially the Aedes aegypti and the Asian tiger mosquito. Disposing of them properly assists FKMCD in the control of these particular mosquitoes, which are both a nuisance and potential carrier of diseases such as Zika, dengue and chikungunya.

Bring your tires to Tire Amnesty Day and Mosquito Control will dispose of them for free. You must be a resident of Monroe County (proof of residency required) to drop off your tires. Each person will be able to drop off a maximum of 8 (eight) tires, with or without rims. Please no business drop-offs.
