Artist and Historian Sharon Wells Offers Historic Architecture Walking Tour with Key West Art & Historical Society: Literary Landmarks Set for March 18
February 23, 2017 — (Key West, FL). Key West Art & Historical Society continues its series of educational and entertaining walking tours led by local artist, historian and Society board member Sharon Wells with a “Literary Landmark” tour up next on March 18. The tour begins at the Custom House and spans areas of Old Town, with stops at historic sites such as the Audubon House, Capt. Tony’s, Sloppy Joe’s, ReMax (Jessie Porter House at 410 Caroline), the Red Barn Theatre, St. Paul’s Church, and 314 Simonton Street, the former Trev-Mor Hotel- where a young Ernest Hemingway, 29, lodged for several weeks in 1928 and wrote a chapter of “A Farewell to Arms.” Join the tour to discover the lore of these literary landmarks. The tour series is presented by The Society as part of their commitment to providing activities and programs that highlight the abundant history and cultural assets of Key West and the Florida Keys.
