Professional Mermaids Offer Fun with Fins for Kids and Adults Alike

KEY WEST, January 17 – This week, the Southernmost Mermaid School continues its introductory ‘Mermaids and Mermosas’ encounter at The Gates Hotel (3824 N. Roosevelt) on Thursdays at sunset (5:30 p.m.) in January. During the micro-class, potential mermaids are submerged into mer-culture with stories and folklore, receive a brief lesson on swimming techniques, take a quick toast of an exotic ‘mermosa’, then free swim alongside other mermaids with photo ops galore.

These encounters are a sampling of offerings from the Southernmost Mermaid School, the premier mermaid swimming instruction in Key West. The Southernmost Mermaid School also offers private instruction with 60-minute sessions perfect for Girls Night Out gatherings and children/adult birthday parties. They are also working with resorts and hotels to offer their encounters to tourists visiting Key West. In addition, they offer guided eco-tours in the backcountry, which is the optimal landscape for a true mermaid experience.

These encounters are perfect for anyone; anyone with thirst for adventure and fun, seeking experiences that are both engrained in the iconic culture and history of Key West but also unique and fascinating glimpse of mer-culture, largely unknown to man.   Depending on the encounter, mermaids will swim with either a full-size mermaid fluke (fin) with mermaid scale swim tights or a full tail with fin. Most encounters use the full-size fin with mermaid scale swim tights to provide the most authentic expression of mermaiding movement, while promoting safe mermaiding for all competent swimmers.
