Man charged with burglary
A Little Torch Key man was arrested Friday for entering a neighbor’s home without permission.
The 66 year old victim said he was watching television at 1:30 a.m. Friday when a man walked in his front door. He said he isn’t sure how the man got through the locked door, but he said a screwdriver was missing from his front porch.
The victim said he asked the man – whom he recognized as a neighbor, 34 year old Alexander Chavez – what he was doing. He said Chavez then left the house, walking toward the end of Tarpon Terrace on Little Torch Key.
Deputy Aaron Roddy responded and went to Chavez’ house at the end of the street. He asked Chavez what he’d been doing. Chavez seemed uncertain in his answers and gave inconsistent versions of his actions. At one point Chavez told the deputy if he had done something wrong he “would not do it again.”
The victim identified Chavez as the one who entered his home without permission.
Chavez was arrested and charged with attempted burglary. He was booked into jail.
