Florida Alliance for Retired Americans Proudly Endorses Joe Garcia for Congress
Miami, FL—Former Democratic Congressman Joe Garcia received the endorsement of the Florida Alliance for Retired Americans (FLARA), a non-profit with over 200,000 members that advocates for legislation and public policies that are in the best interest of current and future retired Floridians.
“Joe Garcia is the clear choice for Congress in Florida’s 26th congressional district—he is a longtime fighter for Florida’s retirees and has stood up time and time again against people like his opponent Carlos Curbelo, who calls Social Security and Medicare Ponzi schemes,” said Bill Sauers, President of Florida Alliance for Retired Americans. “We are proud to support Joe Garcia for Congress.”
“I believe in the American promise that if you work hard throughout your life and pay into these programs, you will be supported in your later years—and that means protecting programs like Social Security and Medicare which are essential to our seniors,” said Congressman Joe Garcia, candidate for Florida’s 26th congressional district. “I’m honored to have the backing of FLARA and plan to continue advocating for its 200,000 members and all retirees in Congress.”
Garcia was a strong advocate of Social Security and Medicare in Congress and opposes Republican attempts to reduce benefits for seniors. In comparison, Republican Congressman Curbelo has taken a page from Trump and called Social Security a Ponzi scheme during a closed-door Republican meeting and went even further than Trump by calling Medicare a Ponzi Scheme too. Curbelo also supports means testing and other methods that hurt the most disadvantaged members of our society.
