Extended Deadline for The Smallest Parade in The Universe

“We still have room in the parade line up for a few more floats,” said Judi Bradford, parade coordinator for THE SMALLEST PARADE IN THE UNIVERSE. “So we are extending the deadline to Oct. 10. “

This is the second year for the miniature parade that benefits MARC  — the Monroe Association for ReMARCable Citizens, a non-profit providing life services for Monroe County’s adult developmentally and intellectually disabled residents.

The parade performed before a packed house last year.  Float builders competed for $2000 in cash prizes and also received 50% of the sale price in the silent auction immediately following the parade.

Floats are workbench size – 18 inches in height, depth and length.  They do not need a means of propulsion; they are moved along the mock Duval Street (created through Rick Worth’s artistic wizardry) on a conveyor belt.  They can be constructed in any media:  traditional sculpture and craft materials, fabrics, found objects.  They could even be made of flowers or cakes. “We are drawing the line at live animals and fire, however,” said Bradford.

Potential float builders with questions can contact Bradford at 305-304-4190.  THE SMALLEST PARADE IN THE UNIVERSE takes place  5 to 9 pm, Thursday, October 27 at the Waterfront Brewery at Caroline and William Streets.
