Monroe County Emergency Management Monitoring Tropical Wave 99L

MARATHON – Monroe County Emergency Management is closely monitoring tropical wave 99L, which has the potential to impact the Florida Keys on Sunday or Monday.

The wave is moving in the general direction of South Florida. It has a 60 percent chance of forming into a Tropical Depression within the next two days and an 80 percent chance of forming into a Tropical Depression within the next five days, according to the National Weather Service.

“We now are taking appropriate actions in the event that the tropical wave develops into a storm,” said Martin Senterfitt, Monroe County’s Director of Emergency Management.

Now is a great time for residents and business owners to make their own storm preparations and clean up debris for their yards.
