9 Days from Election Day, Joe Garcia Outclasses His Primary Opponent in TV Debate

Miami, FL- Today, former Congressman Joe Garcia faced off against his primary opponent in the first and only English televised debate in his Democratic primary race. During the debate on Local 10’s This Week in South Florida with Michael Putney, Garcia outclassed his primary opponent by choosing to focus on issues that matter to the community. In stark contrast to his opponent’s personal negative attacks, Garcia spoke about his record of fighting for South Florida’s families. Meanwhile, his opponent presented more of the same insult politics her Republican-inspired campaign has been known for.

“I am proud of my record of service in this community,” said Joe Garcia, candidate for Florida’s 26th Congressional District. “My opponents will try to distract from the issues that South Floridians really care about, but insult politics won’t make our economy stronger, our waters cleaner or our universities more affordable. I am focused on continuing to improve the lives of South Florida families.”

In Congress, Garcia delivered for his district. He successfully cut student loan rates for our students, which have since dropped to their lowest point in 10 years. Joe was also an advocate for clean water and the environment, having secured $200 million for everglades restoration and millions more in funding for water quality improvements in the district. Garcia was also successful in securing federal dollars for job training in South Florida and for local transportation projects.

“Joe has shown that his priority is solving problems for South Florida families,” said Javier Hernandez, spokesperson for the Garcia Campaign. “Because Joe’s primary opponent doesn’t have a record of service to this community, she chooses to hire a private investigator and Republican strategist to run a campaign around insults and lies.”
