New Summer Adventure Camps at FKCC
KEY WEST, FL, May 17, 2016—Florida Keys Community College announces a new opportunity for local children with its “Summer Adventure Camps.” The assortment of one-week day camps will take place June 13 through August 12 on the Key West Campus. The various camps, designed for ages ranging from seven to 17, provide hands-on activities that will allow campers to tap their creative talents, explore academic interests, develop technical skills, and make friends.

FKCC Summer Adventure Camps:
Aqua Fit
Ages: 7-11
Get ready for a week of non-stop action and fun at FKCC’s pool. Campers will develop swimming, snorkeling, and tennis skills, in addition to enjoying indoor activities that include games, crafts, and learning about health and fitness.
Cooking and More… OH MY!
Ages: 8-12
Discover your creative and culinary sides while making “green” crafts and simple, yummy recipes. Campers will also learn about healthy nutrition in this delicious and delightful, hands-on experience.
Code Breakers: Scratch a Piece of the Pi2
Ages: 8-12
Discover the basics of computer programming, coding, and design using a Raspberry Pi 2. Campers will build and take home their own tiny computer capable of internet surfing, word-processing, gaming, and more.
Healthcare Exploration
Ages: 8-12
Learn about health, nutrition, and safety as well as career paths in this interactive program! Campers will get to practice patient care and learn how to check vital signs with FKCC’s patient simulator machines. They will also learn CPR and other life-saving skills.
Marine Science
Ages: 8-12
This camp is a must for budding marine scientists! Through hands-on interactions in college labs and natural marine environments, campers will learn about marine ecosystems and the importance of environmental conservation.
Junior Lifeguard
Ages: 12-15
Learn water safety and gain practical swimming, water rescue, and lifesaving skills. Future lifeguards will learn first aid, how to use an AED, and prepare for American Red Cross CPR certification.
Scuba Adventures for Teens
Ages: 13-17
Safely study the techniques of scuba diving under the guidance of professional dive instructors. Campers can earn their own PADI scuba certification—opening the doors to a lifetime of underwater adventure.
