1st Annual Teen Town Hall on May 4, 2016
Keys to Be the Change and the Department of Juvenile Justice co-sponsored the 1st Annual Teen Town Hall on May 4, 2016. Monroe County Youth Advisory Council members Gabriela Sonzogni, Lachele Hassen, Kelsey Morris, and Dayana Flores along with State Attorney Catherine Vogel, Assistant Public Defender Trish Docherty, Wesley House CEO Beth Barrett, Jane Isherwood from the 16th Judicial Court and Maureen Kempa Executive Director of the Guidance Care Center participated in a public forum which included questions and answers regarding the youth in our community. The main questions posed were that of making sure our troubled teens do not get sent to the mainland for services but instead remain in Monroe County. The Youth Council asked for support of a Recreational Center in Mid-town as well as free bus service for all youth in the county and to reinstate Vocational Education in our schools.
