Armed Robbery Suspect In Custody
Key West Police recovered nearly $4,800 in stolen prescription drugs Tuesday night after a Key West man allegedly robbed a local pharmacy at gunpoint.
At 7:35 p.m. police responded to a call at the CVS at Overseas Market. When officers arrived, the victim told them a man had pointed a gun at her as she worked behind the pharmacy counter, demanding she hand over the schedule II narcotics. The suspect filled a backpack with the drugs and fled the store, running through a nearby Chinese restaurant seeking a back door.
Officers quickly located Terrence Dickinson, 44, behind the shopping center near a dumpster. He surrendered to police, dropping the two backpacks he was carrying. Once he was handcuffed, police asked him about the gun. He told them it was near the dumpster and that it was a toy.
Officers quickly located the gun and discovered that it was, indeed, a toy with the orange safety tip painted over. The stolen pills were found in one of the backpacks and in Dickinson’s pockets.
Dickinson was transported to the Monroe County Detention Center where he was charged with four felony counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, one felony count of robbery with a firearm, one felony count of grand theft, and two misdemeanor charges.
