Key West Library Closed Friday Due To Natural Death Of A Patron

The Key West Library closed early Friday afternoon after an elderly female patron collapsed in front of the main desk due to an apparent medical emergency. Library staff called 911 and attempted to provide first aid. The patron was transported to the Lower Keys Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. The Key West Police Department is investigating.

The library will remain closed the rest of Friday, and possibly will not open Saturday. Public Works is replacing carpeting where the patron bled after apparently hitting her head when she collapsed.
