Key West Garden Club April 7, 2016 Educational Meeting

The Key West Garden Club will hold its final educational meeting of the 2015-16 season on April 7, 2016 at 1:30 p.m in the Garden at the West Martello Fort on Atlantic Blvd. The program will feature Dr. Bill Irwin and his program is “The Dao of Beekeeping”.
Dr. Irwin has been a Professor of Biology at Florida Keys Community College since 2011.  His experience, earned through a career leading educational, environmental and service organizations and businesses, has led him to become an advocate for environmental responsibility and a pioneer in sustainable living.  He volunteers his time and services locally and globally to organizations that work toward protecting animal welfare, preserving biodiversity and promoting sustainability.

In this presentation, Dr. Bill will present his experiences with beekeeping and will demonstrate how traditional hives are kept and worked.  Participants will be encouraged to discuss how individuals and groups might become involved in this critical endeavor for the benefit of the human population and our ecosystem.
The presentation is open to the public and is free of charge.  We look forward to having the community join us.
