Chris, as always I applaud your spirited and professional support of virtuous causes–here, transportation for our hard-working class.
However, almost always the worst way to help the poor is to have the gov’t in charge of a program, as opposed to what works best, giving them money and letting them support the system that serves them best.
We already have a capable private sector of cabs and ubers that carry people around, with e-bikes helping as an innovation.. A govt -run program UNDERCUTS these struggling workers—a cab driver told me it cost them all around $40/day when the govt-run, non-tax-paying, no capital costs competitor undercut them.
Please take all stakeholders into account.
