Key West, FL – The Zonta Club of Key West proudly announces the 32nd Annual ABC (Awareness for Breast Cancer) 5K and 10K Walk/Run, taking place on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Higgs Beach, 1000 Atlantic Blvd, Key West, FL. This event supports local women by funding mammograms and other essential diagnostic screenings for those who may otherwise be unable to afford them.

“Due to our geography and the high percentage of uninsured residents, the Florida Keys is a high-risk area for breast cancer. This year, we anticipate an even greater demand for women’s health services due to ongoing financial hardships in Monroe County,” said Mechelle Burgohy, ABC Event Committee Chair and Zonta’s Vice President.

Since its inception, Zonta’s efforts have helped eliminate barriers to healthcare access across the Keys. Through funds raised by the ABC event, over 3,500 mammograms have been provided to local women, ensuring that no one is turned away. The program offers crucial support to uninsured and underinsured women, allowing them access to life-saving screenings.

Runners and walkers alike are encouraged to join the hundreds of participants by registering at tinyurl.com/abcrace32. The 10K race begins at 7:30 a.m., followed by the 5K at 8:00 a.m.

Additionally, tickets for the ABC chance drawing are available for purchase and will also be sold on race day. The drawing will take place after the race on November 2, and participants need not be present to win. For more information or to purchase tickets, contact [email protected] or call 305-304-9117.

Zonta extends its gratitude to all sponsors and participants, with special thanks to Manley deBoer, Historic Tours of America, Key West Butterfly & Nature Conservatory, and Arnold’s Towing, whose support helps make this event possible.
