Chris Bergh Next In Audubon Speaker Series
The Florida Keys Audubon Society will kick off its 2016 Speaker Series on Wednesday, January 6 at 6:30 p.m. with a talk by Chris Bergh at the Key West Garden Club.
Bergh is the Nature Conservancy’s South Florida Conservation Director. He is also a member of the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary Advisory Council. His talk will be about how wildlife can benefit form updated sanctuary and refuge rules.
Currently all three of the Florida Keys national wildlife refuges, as well the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary, are in the middle of a review process of their management plans. Bergh says that the groups are in the middle of that process, and in the coming year people will have a chance to give input on revised rules.
The question, says Bergh, is, “How do we take advantage of the new science that has occurred, and what we’ve learned about how various management practices have worked, in order to tweak and improve the management plan?”
FKAS talks are free and open to the public.
