Late-Season Depression Forms In Eastern Pacific Off Mexico

By Associate Press

MIAMI (AP) — A late-season tropical depression has formed in the Pacific off the coast of Mexico and is expected to gradually strengthen to a hurricane.

The U.S. Hurricane Center in Miami says Tropical Depression 22-E does not pose a threat to land and is forecast to stay out to sea.

Late Monday, the center said the depression was centered about 560 miles (900 kms) south of Manzanillo, Mexico. It had maximum sustained winds of 35 mph (55 kph) and was moving west at 20 mph (31 kph).

The depression is expected to become a tropical storm on Tuesday and a hurricane by Wednesday.

There are no coastal watches or warnings in effect.

Officially, both the Pacific and Atlantic hurricane seasons end next Monday.
