MIAMI (AP) — Three alleged suspects were taken to the hospital after Miami-Dade police say officers opened fire during a confrontation over a stolen patrol car.
Authorities say an officer saw a white truck speeding away from a gas station Friday night and thought it matched a stolen unmarked patrol vehicle. Several back-up units responded as the officer tried to pull over the truck.
Authorities say a confrontation ensued and officers shot three of the five occupants in the car. The three males who were shot were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Two females remained on the scene and were being interviewed. The alleged suspects were white.
Charges are pending.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating.
