Couple Shot To Death In Their Home

A man and a woman were shot to death in their home on Cuba Road in Tavernier.

Detectives from the Sheriff’s Major Crimes Unit say a neighbor called the Sheriff’s Office shortly after 2 p.m. to report finding the bodies of 26 year old Tara Rosado and 30 year old Carlos Ortiz. The neighbor said he found Rosado’s three children outside. The children are aged 3, 4, and 8. He said the children told him their mother and Carlos were in the house, dead.

He went next door and, after finding the two bodies, called the Sheriff’s Office.

Detective Vince Weiner, lead investigator on the case, said it appears Rosado and Ortiz were shot to death sometime Thursday night. The case is under investigation.
