Very much enjoyed reading Lou’s account of Hemingway and Agnes vonKurowskly. I learn so much from Lou in Konk Life and most of it, I eagerly share. Of course, being a Hemingway aficionado for most of my adult life, I knew of Agnes, but never knew she actually came to Key West. One has to believe, since none of Hemingway’s life ever seemed to be much of a secret , she surely knew he was living in Cuba and frequently traveled to the island, so why did she move there if she sought solitude and freedom from notoriety? Had she had second thoughts and wished to renew her relationship with the author? Was she too proud and hoped he’d learn of her residency and would come to her? So many questions, but none we will ever know the answers to, unless a secret journal aside from the one she willed to Villard turns up one day.
