TAKE STOCK IN CHILDREN GRADUATION CEREMONY
Rep. Carlos Curbelo to give commencement speech
The Monroe County Education Foundation (MCEF) welcomes all residents and guests to help celebrate the accomplishments of the Take Stock in Children (TSIC) 2015 graduating class. Fifty TSIC scholars will be honored at the ceremony on Saturday, May 30th, 2015 at the Marathon High School Auditorium. The graduation festivities will begin at 11:30 a.m.
This year the commencement speaker will be U.S. Representative Carlos Curbelo (R., Florida) who along with Madeline Pumariega, President & CEO of TSIC will be featured guests of honor at the 2015 graduation ceremony. Other speakers and dignitaries include Steve Pribramsky, President of MCEF; John Padget, Florida Department of Education board member and president emeritus of MCEF; and TSIC 2015 scholars Samantha Bonilla, Tristian Garcia, and Kara Berces.
Mark Porter, Monroe County Superintendent of Schools noted, “We’ll be honoring the accomplishments of these dedicated and hard-working students. These scholarships would not be possible without the generosity of our donors, who provide an unbelievable opportunity for motivated scholars from lower-income families to realize their dreams. We look forward to recognizing the accomplishments of these 50 talented Monroe County students who will now begin the next phase of their educational journey.”
Although the stated mission of TSIC Florida is to provide students with the financial resources to attend college, the MCEF board continues to focus on providing students with all tools and skills necessary to complete a degree, diploma, or certificate. Steve Pribramsky, MCEF board president emphasized the importance of Monroe County’s College-Readiness efforts. “Nearly all of this year’s graduating class is considered to be college-ready, meaning they will immediately be enrolling in college-level math, science, and English classes. The MCEF board is confident that this year’s TSIC graduates are poised to distinguish themselves as they embark on their post-high school educational endeavors.”
The Monroe County Education Foundation, established in 1996, is a Florida not-for-profit organization dedicated to enhancing and improving the educational experiences of students within Monroe County.
