Key West:  Fury Water Adventures and Bourbon St Pub bring back “Tea on the Sea”

Saturday April 11th will be the third launch of “Tea on the Sea,” said Scott Saunders, President of Fury Water Adventures, “an extraordinary sunset sail that has brought back a much loved epic dance party in Key West.  We are thrilled to partner with Joey Schroeder and Bourbon St Pub to launch this signature gay-based event that celebrates life, equality and the joy of being on the Island that has reinvigorated the spirit of community, inclusion and togetherness that Key West is all about.”

Many Locals and vacationers alike recall fondly their memories of the world-renowned Tea Dance on the famous pier at Atlantic Shores.  Like the hallmark Tea Dance at Provincetown’s Boatslip Resort, the Atlantic Shores “Tea by the Sea” was for decades the centerpiece of gay social life here until the resort closed its doors after Hurricane Wilma in 2005.

The “Pre-Tea Party” at Bourbon St Pub, followed by “Tea on the Sea” and ending with Bourbon St’s classic “After-Tea Dance” rekindles Key West’s bedrock place in gay culture world-wide… “It’s not just something to do when you’re in Key West, but is instead a signature reason to come to Key West…just like the old days,” Saunders said.

Saunders went on to say that, while of course open to all,  “Tea on the Sea is one of the Island’s newest water adventures that is specifically for the gay community and celebrates Local gay life as well as the many LGBT visitors who vacation here…the gay community has always been at the core of life here making the Island the special place that it is, and we at Fury couldn’t be more excited and proud to launch this special trip.”

Joey Schroeder, owner of Bourbon St Pub, explained that the loss of Atlantic Shores was “like a death in the family, and that bringing back this classic Tea Dance Sunset Sail and ‘After Tea Dance’ at Bourbon St immediately after docking has been the perfect way to revitalize the 700 block of Duval as Key West’s vibrant Gay Village where gay folks from here and all over the world have historically come to celebrate.”

Schroeder went on to say that “we have all worked hard to be sure that the Tea sail does not compete with other gay-themed events on the Island, but instead adds another vibrant celebration for the gay community here…and the high Local demand for tickets has already warranted a regular Tea schedule throughout the year.”

“Tea on the Sea” is a two hour sunset sail hosted on one of Fury’s premier sailing catamarans, with a full spread of finely catered appetizers, full premium open bar, endless signature P-Town Planters Punch, two disco lit dance floor decks, and our favorite Local classic Tea Dance DJ’s keeping the pulse alive and energized.

These all-inclusive Tickets are just $69.95, and can be purchased at Tea Dance Headquarters at Bourbon St Pub, or by calling 305-842-1988.
