Amazing Designers

On Thursday, May 1, my friends and I went to the Key West High School for their Annual Fashion Show. This was the seventh year for doing the fashion show. There were 10 designers showing their best designs. Kristin Ayala, Sierra Cisneros , Giordan Demenza, Caya Cooper, Elisabeth Rockteschel, Allyson McCall, Theresa Marius, Gerisue Root, Alec Toranzo, and Jennifer Valdez.
The students design and sew their own clothes. The clothes were so amazing. The designers picked some students to model their designs. The models came out one by one to show off the clothes while fun music was playing. Two of the models in Theresa Marius designs were so cute, I think they were about 2 and 3 years old!
The day before, I got to go to the rehearsal and I got to interview the president of the club, Alec Toranzo, and vice president, Jennifer Valdez. Alec told me he started when he was a freshman and that his design this year was Weak for Love and it was dark but glitzy. Jennifer has been in the club for four years and her theme was about the 1970s’ Disco Queens. Jennifer would like to go into styling or the business side of fashion, just like me!
The director of the show and teacher of the class was Ms. Sabryah Alghrary. This was her first year and she did a fabulous job. They also had delicious food outside that was made by the Culinary Art Students. There were really cool light effects done by the TV Production students and they did an amazing job.
I really had a great time and it really inspired me to stay with my passion for design. I hope to see you all next year because I will definitely be going again.
