1000 Friends of Florida Joins Forces with the Florida Keys ROGO Coalition
Monroe County, FL — 1000 Friends of Florida, the state’s leading not-for-profit smart growth
advocacy organization, has officially joined the Florida Keys ROGO Coalition. This powerful
partnership strengthens the Coalition’s efforts to ensure that growth in the Keys is carefully
managed through a transparent, data-driven process and prioritizes citizen safety, quality of life,
and the natural beauty of the area.
Advocating for smart growth policies since 1986, 1000 Friends of Florida brings a wealth of
expertise that will bolster the Coalition’s mission and help secure a sustainable future for the
Keys. The Coalition, now representing more than 22 organizations and thousands of citizens,
continues to grow as community and statewide partners rally together to protect our natural
resources, fragile ecosystems, and unique way of life in the Florida Keys.

The Coalition’s recently launched petition has garnered over 1,250 signatures to date,
underscoring the local community’s overwhelming support for a transparent data-driven process
around new ROGOs. Together with 1000 Friends of Florida, the Coalition will continue pushing
for decision making at all levels of government that prioritizes the Florida Keys’ environmental
